My computer doesn't love me anymore...

Sun Dec 16, 2007, 9:14 AM
  • Mood: Irritated
  • Listening to: Nothing, my music's gone too...
  • Reading: Going Postal
  • Watching: One Piece
So, mid-way through exams last friday my desktop computer decides that life is just too painful for it and that it doesn't want to live anymore. It starts giving me hard-disk errors everytime I start up and so I sigh and try to find my windows CDs and other myriad programs that I'll have to reinstall. Then it starts up normally, I think Great, it's decided to behave now. Then I try looking for my art folder...NOT there, in fact my whole second hard drive is NOT there...and I realize that it's not my WINDOWS hard drive, with semi-easily reinstalled programs on it that was crapping out, but my personal hard drive with all of my artwork, music and personal things on it that was dying. Now it sits there, all innocent and free of information asking me if I want to reformat it please. The bastard. Jess has been trying every trick she can think of to try and scrounge *anything* off of it, but the chances of that are practically zero.

So, everything I've ever drawn on my computer is gone, even the Christmas card I was working on for this year and several other works-in-progress that were probably going to rot on my hard drive anyways, but still. DAMN. And I had LITERALLY just installed a DVD burner and gotten burnable DVDs with which I could have backed it all up. But Alas! Too late...and it makes me sad, because I did have a few pictures that I was working on that would have been fun to finish *sigh* So it's back to sketch-book drawing for awhile until I can afford a new hard drive, since the ones with windows on it is TINY and practically full...

So, this was after my second exam, and while it saddened me greatly that the past 4 years of my art life was gone, I had to move on and continue studying for exams. That was when my Laptop decided that it too was going to join the 'We Hate Jen' club and turn off in the middle of me studying and not turn back on. Right before my three hardest exams, my laptop, and NOTE-TAKING machine decides that it would rather be in a self-induced coma than allow me to read my notes so that I could study for my exams. Jerk. So it now needs a new power cord (so Jess thinks) which during two days of solid studying and exams I had no time (or money for that matter) to purchase.

All this is on top of my desktop's tendancy to freeze and die during any game more graphically intense than Pac-Man. So, zero ability to play any of my stress-relieving games, and now all my art and works-in-progress are gone too. I need a new computer. Unfortunately, they don't come cheap. It is at this point that I consider living in a cave and clubbing squirrels for my meals, since technology obviously hates me now, and soon the robots will come for my blood if I continue to abuse their brethren.

On the upside though, all this terrible Karma means that something great should be coming our way right? Cause I don't remember doing anything worth this kind of Karmic backlash...and if I HAVE done something to derserve this...DAMN I want to at least remember it...cause it must have been mind-blowingly fantastic.
